Building Your Own Computer is the creation of 10 years of accumulated experience. This book will contain knowledge of common pitfalls not contained in other books, manuals, sites, etc... It will also explain technical vocabulary, and it will fit into anyone's busy day no matter how much time you have. It is a very literal and to the point book, and is great for people who are new to the field of computers. This book will help you develop an educated decision between the cost, performance, your current needs, and future needs of each part, depending on how you use a computer.

Building Your Own Computer will give you the tools necessary to understand what each component is, does, what the most important features are, and how to make the most efficient choices to get the most bang for your buck from your components, while remaining useful for at least the next 12 years. Building Your Own Computer pictures, covers several warnings, and offers troubleshooting steps that you just can't find in a manual. Once you pick up this book, getting some hands on experience can't come soon enough!

The book has been reformatted to appear appropriately on the , DX, iPhone, and iPad.

There are issues concerning format and delivery that I will not go into. I will simply comment on the content.

This is an interesting book. I feel like it merited another star if only for the author's efforts, but I couldn't muster a third. I wanted to, but I just couldn't.

"Building Your Own Computer. No Fri... [Etc.]" is arranged kind of like an RPG that leads you down the trail to each objective along the path... In other words the endless possibilities available to custom PC builders are not really explored. If you want a guide with specific computer parts laid across the screen in front of you so that you don't have to pick any of your own components, (Such as CPU, Hard Drive, RAM, Mobo, and all the other cool things that come with designing a computer), then you may benefit from this book.

I recommend that if you purchase this, just focus on gleaning as much 'indirect' information as you can. In other words read through the pages to learn what the computer building process should look like, not to actually build a PC with the parts that are used as examples. There is good information about where to buy, what parts you need, etc. but many of the components used as an example are actually already outdated.

While it is a decent effort I don't feel like this eBook was worth the purchase, especially if you are wanting to actually learn what it takes to build a computer for yourself. If you are someone peeking through the fence at the mysterious world of custom PC design for the first time, then you may benefit by getting one person's perspective on the subject.

There are better options for nearly the same price [Before Shipping] that would be much better suited for learning how to build your own computer. But then again, it's 3 bucks and instantly downloaded, so perhaps it could be argued that the content delivers 125% intrinsic value of the cost. You decide.

Nice title. Explains the book. I'm getting ready to build my first computer. I feel confident I could have figured it out without reading this book but now I know I can. Answered most all of my questions. Gave me a very good starting point - mobo! And remember to read the REVIEWS! Great job.
